The culprit Shubham Singh, confessed to the police that he would take advantage of half-open shops in the mall which is currently undergoing construction work due to the ongoing redevelopment.
On May 28, Monday, the police arrested a culprit for robbing ₹95,000 from a general store in Dreams Mall, Bhandup. The culprit identified as Shubham Singh, confessed to the police that he would take advantage of half-open shops in the mall which is currently undergoing construction work due to the ongoing redevelopment.
Anil Sawant, a resident of Kalyan owns a shop in the mall. On May 26, after a long day, he closed his shop and left for home. However, on May 27 when he returned to the shop, he saw the shutter left partly open. Upon investigation, it was found all the items in the store were on the ground and ₹95,000 stolen from the safe.
Sawant filed a complaint at the Bhandup Police Station who nabbed the culprit outside Mulund station on May 28. Police were able to trace the culprit as an informer revealed that he had seen him roaming around Mulund station. Singh confessed his crime during the police investigation.
