Nariman Point - It was proved again that the security in Mantralaya is in shambles when a youth tried to set himself on fire in front of the gate. 32-year-old A. P. Pillai, a Malad resident was frustrated with the builders who were not giving him a flat under the SRA scheme. His father had received the same treatment. Since Pillai had a hut in the same area he considered himself eligible for the benefits, but his claim was met with ignorance from the builder. To express his agony to the Chief Minister he arrived at Mantralaya where suddenly he poured kerosene on himself and tried to set himself on fire. This created a stir among the police and security. The police are claiming that they mistook the kerosene bottle for a water bottle due to similar packaging.
