On Tuesday, the temperature of Mumbai started dropping and the minimum temperature recorded in the suburbs on Wednesday morning was 15 degree Celsius which was below the normal level.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) officials recorded 15.4 while Colaba recorded 19 degrees Celsius and had predicted a clear sky for Wednesday and Thursday with day and night temperatures to be around 29 and 16 degrees Celsius, respectively.
As a result of rain in the northern parts of the country, cool northerly to north-easterly winds are passing over Maharashtra. We expect both day and night temperatures to drop in Mumbai and interior Maharashtra,” Shubhangi Bhute, Scientist, IMD.
Last time when the city recorded its lowest temperature, it was on January 8 with the minimum temperature dropping to 13.6 degrees Celsius. But from January 12, temperatures started rising and touched a scorching 35.6 degrees until last Tuesday.
