For the first time this season, Mumbaikars witnessed lowest minimum temperature below 20 degrees on Thursday morning, November 14.

However, the IMD has predicted a rise in temperature in the coming period, with another cold spell likely only after November 20. As per IMD's website, on November 15 morning, the minimum temperature was recorded at 22.6 and 25 degrees at Santacruz and Colaba observatory respectively. Besides, Thane saw 25 degrees Celsius.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD)’s Santacruz station recorded 19 degrees Celsius, 2.6 degrees below normal. Whereas the Colaba station registered 24 degrees, which was 0.7 degrees above normal, during the same period.

It further dipped from 20.4 degrees Celsius recorded a day ago, on November 13.

Meanwhile, on the same day, the temperatures continued to soar as the maximum temperatures touched nearly 37 degrees Celsius in the city.

The day temperature in the city, however, stayed on the higher side as the IMD Colaba observatory recorded maximum temperature of 35.2 degrees Celsius, which was 1.7 degrees above normal. Santacruz observatory recorded 36.8 degrees Celsius, which was 2.9 degrees above normal.

If the reports are to be believed, it is the city’s hottest November day recorded since 2018 when temperatures touched 37.6 degrees on November 6 while the coldest November night was recorded in the year 1950 at 13.3 degrees Celsius.

Weather forecast for weekend

The forecast for the minimum temperature in the city on Saturday, November 16, 2024 is 27.54 °C and maximum is 30.53 °C. Humidity is likely to reach 52%.

AQI in Mumbai:

The Air Quality Index (AQI) in the city was 134, which falls in the ‘moderate' category, as per TOI.

What does IMD predict?

According to the IMD forecast, the temperature will touch a high of 34-35 degrees Celsius in the next few days. But the minimum temperature will be 24-25 degrees Celsius.
