Mumbai has experienced heavy to very heavy rainfall over the past week. The city faced issues like waterlogging, traffic jams and even damage of trees and buildings due to the non-stop rain showers.

However, when things were looking to go out of control, heavy rain showers decreased across the city and its suburban areas. Over the last 24 hours, the observatories at Santacruz has recorded just 9 mm and Colaba recorded 9 mm of rain.

According to the weather forecasting body Skymet, the cyclonic circulation, which was persistent over South Gujarat, has shifted to the north and it now lies over the Saurashtra and Kutch region. The monsoon surge over Konkan and Goa has also weakened and hence, there is said to be further decreased in rain activities over Mumbai and its suburban areas.

The data provided by Skymet also suggests that in the next 24 hours, Mumbai and its suburbs may experience moderate to intense rain spells, but the overall amount of rainfall across the city will eventually decrease. The weather is expected to go almost dry and only isolated spot rains are expected from July 21, 2020.

The data also suggests that the temperature will rise leading to sultry and humid weather conditions once again over Mumbai and its suburbs.
