In a respite to the scorching heat, on Monday afternoon, May 13, Mumbai, Thane and neighbouring areas witnessed dust storm and gusty winds along with rainfall and thundering.
The weather department has also predicted rains across the city for next few hours.
The Regional Meteorological Center (RMC) has issued yellow alert for Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Solapur, Latur, Beed, Nagpur, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts.
Whereas, an orange alert has been issued for Pune, Satara, Sangli, Nashik, Kolhapur, Ahmednagar, Aurangabad, Jalna and Parbhani districts.
“Possibility of light rain/thundershower in evening/night over the next 24 hours. Maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 35°C and 28°C respectively," said RMC in a post on X.
Besides, taking it to X, IMD chief Pune, KS Hosalikar, predicted that moderate to intense thunderstorms over red marked areas. Moreover, district of Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Nagar and eastern suburbs of Mumbai during next 2 hrs. Mulund, Tiltwala, Kalyan. Also, moderate to severe thunderstorms over yellow areas covering South ghat areas of Pune, Satara next 2,3 hours.
It is pertinent to note that strong winds and rain were also witnessed in the Ghatkopar, Bandra Kurla, Dharavi, Badlapur, Bhiwandi, Kalyan areas of Mumbai. Additionally, traffic movement is disrupted at Kamraj Nagar and Navi Mumbai due to fall of a hoarding on the road.
