In Mumbai, Worli is the most-affected area by the COVID-19 pandemic as it has recorded nearly 20 per cent of the total cases. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the G-South ward, under which Worli comes, has recorded the most number of cases, i.e. 390 cases as of Wednesday, April 15. While the situation looks dire for the residents of Worli, there is also a ray of hope.

129 people who were ordered to be in quarantine have finished the 14-day protocol and have been released. As they were released from the quarantine, they were applauded by the local residents and the police officials on duty in the area.

The 129 individuals were living in the high-risk zone in Mumbai and therefore, were shifted to isolation wards in Poddar Hospital. After completing their 14-day isolation tenure, they were released by the BMC from the quarantine. Swab tests were conducted on Monday and Tuesday for these people and both the reports had turned out to be negative for them.

Reportedly, the individuals received a grand welcome from their neighbours too. Adding to this, eight coronavirus infected people from Worli Koliwada were discharged after they tested negative.

Maharashtra Tourism Minister, Aaditya Thackeray who is also the MLA from Worli constituency has been closely monitoring the situation in Worli. He recently tweeted about how the coronavirus patients from his constituency were recovering gradually.

Sharing the news, Aaditya Thackeray tweeted, "Today over phone, I got in touch with some Worli residents who had contracted coronavirus. They have recovered and gone back to their homes. They are now fit. The way they have won the war against COVID-19, I am confident that our state and country will win this battle too."

While on one hand, the G-South ward is slowly recovering, as per recent updates, the total number of cases in G-North ward has reached 97. As of April 15, 2020, the number of COVID-19 cases in Mumbai has crossed the 2000-mark.
