According to sources, the third vaccination drive for COVID-19 is to be held on Friday, January 15 across nine vaccination centres in Mumbai.
Moreover, in order to increase the number of vaccination centres, a dry run of the vaccination will be conducted at six places. On the other hand, in Mumbai, the vaccination is to be conducted in five phases across the city.
Meanwhile, the number of patients suffering from the coronavirus in Mumbai is declining day by day. North G Dadar, Mahim, Dharavi division of Mumbai has become almost become COVID-19 free. At present, there are only 7,390 active patients in Mumbai. 2,581 patients have mild symptoms of coronavirus and are being treated by the health department.
In areas like Worli, Dharavi and Byculla, which are the hotspots of the coronavirus, the number of patients has decreased due to the 'My Family, My Responsibility' campaign implemented by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray in the state. Mumbai had earlier received over 1.39 lakh doses of the Oxford COVID-19 vaccine, Covishield. The first batch of doses was delivered across the city at designated vaccination centres for the inoculation drive set to begin on January 16, the BMC said in a statement. Moreover, the Health department staffers of the civic body brought the vaccines from neighbouring Pune under the security of two police vehicles. Furthermore, the BMC added, “The vaccine doses are being stored at a facility in F-South ward office situated in Parel,” The civic body has also created a centralised cold storage facility for vaccines in Kanjurmarg.
