The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will survey 15 crucial flyovers in mumbai before the upcoming Ganeshotsav. This decision was made during a meeting involving the BMC, Mumbai Police, and the Ganeshotsav Coordinating Committee.

The committee asked for permission to use the Gokhale and Shiv flyovers in Andheri for festival processions. These flyovers are important for the arrival and departure of large Ganesha idols. Even though they have height barriers and ban heavy vehicles, a thorough inspection was deemed necessary.

Many of the city's other flyovers are from the British era. The Coordination Committee demanded inspections to make sure of the safety of major processions. Police officers, BMC Coordinator Prashant Sapkale, and Joint Commissioner Ajit Kumar Ambhi discussed these requests.

The flyovers scheduled for resurvey include Kennedy Pool Bridge, Mahalakshmi Bridge, Prabhadevi Bridge, Dadar Tilak Bridge, Ghatkopar Railway Flyover, Curry Road Bridge, Chinchpokli Flyover, Byculla Railway Bridge, Marine Lines Railway Bridge, Sandhurst Road Flyover, and Grant Road Flyover.

The committee also recommended that the BMC increase the number of man-made lakes for idol immersion. This suggestion was welcomed by the local government. The coordinating committee also talked about the need to fix potholes around the city by August 11.

The committee clarified to the BMC that Ganesha Mandap license applications must be submitted a month before. This is to make sure of smooth preparations, as Ganeshotsav begins on September 7.

Additionally, the BMC announced it would display eco-friendly Ganesha idol store locations on Google Maps to help devotees find them easily. A state government also allows mandals that have completed 75, 50, and 25 years to renew their mandap licenses in three years instead of every year.
