20 Mumbai Buildings Declared Dangerous; Check Out the Complete List

This declaration came after the Mumbai Buildings Repairs and Reconstruction Board (MBRRB) completed its yearly pre-monsoon inspection. Last year, four of these buildings were also found to be highly dangerous.

The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) on Wednesday, May 29, announced 20 Mumbai-based cessed buildings as dangerous. They are not fit for living or using it. 

This declaration came after the Mumbai Buildings Repairs and Reconstruction Board (MBRRB) completed its yearly pre-monsoon inspection. Last year, four of these buildings were also found to be highly dangerous. 

A total of 711 people live in these buildings, 494 of them are residential, while 217 are non-residential inhabitants. Following the inspection, the MBRRB has issued evacuation guidelines. Residents are asked to comply with the evacuation orders. 

So far, 36 residents have relocated on their own. Another 46 residents have moved to transit camps provided by the board. Eviction notices have been given to the remaining residents, and they are in the process of leaving the buildings.

The MBRRB is making efforts to relocate 412 more residents to transit camps. The board is actively working to provide alternative housing for those affected. Residents are also advised to report any incidents or signs of danger to the control room. The control room is functional 24/7.

These buildings were listed as highly dangerous buildings last year as well:

1. Final Plot No. 721 and 724 TPS-3 Division, Building No. 40B and 428, Cess No. G North 50-95(1) and G North-5103 Atmaram Building and Penkar Chawl

2. 31C and 33A, R. Rangnekar Marg and 19 Purandare Marg, Girgaon Chowpatty

3. Building No. 104-106, Meghji Building, A, B, and C Wing, Shivdas Chapsi Marg

4. Building No. 4-4A, Navroji Hill Road No. 1, Jolly Chambers

The rest of the 16 cessed buildings are:

3. Building No. 52-58, Babu Genu Road

4. Building No. 7 Khanderao Wadi/204-208, Kalbadevi Road

5. Building No. 52-52A, 2nd Deccan Cross Road

7. Building No. 314B, Brahmand Co-op Housing Society, V.P. Road, Girgaon

8. Building No. 418-426 S.V.P. Road, (124 to 134A) Golecha House

9. Building No. 83-87, Rawate Building, J.S.S. Road, Girgaon

10. Building No. 213-215, Dr. D. B. Marg
