The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has declared that only 25 per cent concretisation of roads have been completed so far.
This development came days ahead of the monsoon season to set off in mumbai.
The completed works have been undertaken in the eastern and western suburbs. However, the work is yet to begin in the island city.
For the city, the BMC scrapped the contract with the previous tender owing to the delay in starting the work and a new tender was floated.
Official stated that no new roads are being dug up, considering monsoon is just days away. A deadline of June 7 has been fixed to make the dug up roads motorable.
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) legislator Aaditya Thackeray questioned the BMC’s progress of road concretisation in ground.

Besides, MNCDF Citizen Welfare Forum also took to social media platform X shared the photos of potholes, which are endangering to lives, on Sahar Road next to P&T Colony Bus Stop, Andheri East.

For the unversed, the road works were taken up following the announcement of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in August 2022. He said that Mumbai will be made pothole-free by concretising all the existing roads of Mumbai.
Following this, the BMC had floated a INR 6,000 crore tender aiming to concretise 397km of roads in Mumbai.
