The Muslim community is being accused of waging 'Vote Jihad' by voting against the BJP. Samajwadi Party MLA Raees Sheikh from Bhiwandi East has said that BJP's allegation is baseless as the Mahayuti has won 21 assembly seats out of 38 assembly constituencies which are predominantly Muslim.

The state's 38 Muslim-majority assembly constituencies have a Muslim population ranging from 20 to 52 percent. In such constituencies, Mahayuti has won 21 seats with a huge margin. All the winning MLAs are Hindus. Had there been a 'Vote Jihad' of the Muslim community, the Mahayuti would not have won a large number of candidates in these constituencies. Shaikh alleged that the BJP is maligning the Muslim community in the name of 'Vote Jihad'.

It has 3 MLAs from Congress, 2 from Samajwadi Party, 2 from Ajit Pawar NCP, 1 from Shinde Shiv Sena, 1 from Uddhav Thackeray group and 1 from MIM. Muslims make up 11.56% of the state's population and have 3.47% representation in the Legislative Assembly and 1.2% in the Legislative Council.
