The increased assistance will be provided to the beneficiaries of the Chief Minister's Ladki Bahin Yojana only after the state government's financial situation improves, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar explained in the Legislative Assembly on Thursday. Due to this revelation, the women eligible for the scheme will have to wait a long time for the assistance of INR 2,100.
The budget's grant demands of the Finance, Planning, Food and Civil Supplies departments were approved. Members had asked when the Chief Minister would provide INR 2,100 assistance to the beneficiaries of the Ladki Bahin Yojana. We are currently providing INR 1,500 assistance to beneficiaries of Ladki Bahin Yojana. Pawar clarified that additional assistance will be provided only when the financial situation improves.
Senior BJP MLA Sudhir Mungantiwar, while participating in the discussion, had suggested that the state government should increase its income through lottery. For this, he gave information about the revenue received from the lottery by other states including Kerala. Taking note of this demand, Ajit Pawar, in his reply, said that a committee of all-party MLAs would be appointed under the chairmanship of Sudhir Mungantiwar to increase the state's revenue through all types of lotteries.
‘77.26 percent of the provision spent’
The state’s gross income is 49 lakh 39 thousand crore rupees. The government’s revenue deficit is within 1 percent. In 2015, the state’s gross income was 12 lakh 80 thousand crore rupees, while the revenue deficit was 1 percent. In the current financial year 2024-25, less amount was spent out of the budget provision because two elections were held in this year, Lok Sabha and Assembly. Due to their code of conduct, there were restrictions on expenditure for four months. Minister Pawar said that 77.26 percent of the provision has been spent till date.
