On Thursday, November 25, it was reported that the Maharashtra cabinet decided to hold the winter session of the state legislature in Mumbai rather than in Nagpur. The session will begin on December 22.

Whilst the assembly session was slated to begin on December 7, it was deferred owing to the code of conduct in play for the election of six seats of the legislative council. The election of which will be held on December 10.

According to reports, sources claimed that the government was looking at the holiday period from December 20. It however decided to further prolong it to December 22 since the State Election Commission proclaimed the election of 105 Nagar Panchayats. These elections will be conducted on December 21.

Based on accounts, the meeting of the Business Advisory Committee of the Maharashtra legislature will be conducted on November 29. Herein it is anticipated that a decision on the session’s duration, as well as, the business will be taken.

Sources in narratives state that the session could be conducted from December 22 to 28.

As per the norm, Maharashtra’s assembly’s winter session is conducted in Nagpur. However, since Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray is recovering from his surgery, the said decision was undertaken, claim accounts.
