Though NCP is part of the ruling National Democratic Alliance, NCP leader and Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar did not attend the Goods and Services Tax Council meeting held on Saturday. The Sharad Pawar faction of the NCP has criticised Ajit Pawar’s absence.
A meeting of the Goods and Services Tax Council was held in New Delhi on Saturday afternoon under the chairmanship of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The finance minister of the state is a member of this council. Some important decisions regarding tax reduction were taken in this meeting. But Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister of the state Ajit Pawar was not present in this meeting. Central government's press agency 'PIB' has published the list of Chief Ministers or Deputy Chief Ministers of the states present in the Council meeting.
The press release informed that Chief Ministers of Goa and Meghalaya and Deputy Chief Ministers of Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Odisha are present in the meeting. That is, it is clear from the press release given by the government press that neither the deputy chief minister nor the finance minister of the state Ajit Pawar was present in the meeting.
NCP's Sharad Pawar faction has criticised Ajit Pawar for disrupting the council meeting. Ajit Pawar, who has been constantly visiting Delhi for his personal interests, has refused to attend important Goods and Services Tax Council meetings. Actual Finance Minister Ajit Pawar was expected to attend the council meeting and raise the issues of Maharashtra. Sharad Pawar's group has reacted through 'X' that Maharashtra will never tolerate this hypocrisy of the Mahayuti government.
