The most coveted seat Mahim constituency will see a fight between Maharashtra Navnirman Sena President Raj Thackeray’s son Amit Thackeray, Shiv Sena (UBT) Mahesh Sawant and Shiv Sena (Shinde) Sada Sarvankar. When MNS announced the candidature of Amit Thackeray in Mahim constituency, there was a buzz in political circles as to which candidate will UBT introduce.
The contest in Mahim Assembly Constituency is going to be a high voltage contest. MNS and Shinde group have fielded veteran candidates in this constituency. The Thackeray group has announced a strong candidate against both the veteran candidates.
Mahesh Sawant has been working for Shiv Sena since 1990. At one time he was a staunch supporter of Sada Saravankar. Shiv Sena has always participated in agitations, social activities. He has good public relations in this constituency. Sada Saravankar left Shiv Sena along with Rane, and Mahesh Sawant also resigned.
In the 2017 municipal elections, Mahesh Sawant contested against Samadhan Saravankar where the latter defeated him by 250 votes.
