Fatima Khatoon, a 31-year-old woman from Mira Road, named her newborn baby girl Mahalakshmi as she delivered while travelling by Kolhapur-Mumbai Mahalakshmi Express. Fatima Khatoon's daughter was born on June 6.

The train left from Lonavala station and she started having labour pains. Passengers present in the train help her in delivering the baby. The due date of her delivery was June 20, hence, she booked a train ticket from Kolhapur to Mumbai on June 6.

Her husband Tayyab said upon complaining of stomach ache, her wife went to the toilet but did not return for a long time. When he went to check on her, he found out that she had given birth to a child. The women passengers came to our aid, added Tayyab.
