PUBG fans in India can rejoice on this piece of good news, as reports state that the popular mobile game may return to India. In a recent development, it is said that Korea-based PUBG corporation has planned to take complete control over its operations in India, which was earlier controlled by China-based Tencent Games.
The corporation released a statement regarding the same which shared the details about the operations. The game was banned in India on September 2, 2020, along with 117 other Chinese apps. This move not only disappointed the fans but also affected the business significantly, following which the corporation based out of South Korea, decided to discontinue the deal with the China-based firm. As per current reports, the makers of PUBG mobile game are said to be in talks with the authorities in India, to ensure the app is available for the audience here.
PUBG corporation shared the statement, which read, “PUBG Corporation fully understands and respects the measures taken by the government as the privacy and security of player data is a top priority for the company. It hopes to work hand-in-hand with the Indian government to find a solution that will allow gamers to once again drop into the battlegrounds while being fully compliant with Indian laws and regulations. In the light of recent developments, PUBG Corporation has made the decision to no longer authorize the PUBG MOBILE franchise to Tencent Games in India. Moving forward, PUBG Corporation will take on all publishing responsibilities within the country. As the company explores ways to provide its own PUBG experience for India in the near future, it is committed to doing so by sustaining a localized and healthy gameplay environment for its fans. PUBG Corporation is committed to providing its unique battle royale experience to a global audience and hopes to continue engaging with its passionate player base in India. In addition to regular content updates, the company is exploring different ways to engage its community in India through various region-based activities, including esports and community events.”
Reports also state that the PUBG Corporation is all set to offer its own experience in India in the near future.
The Government of India, in a recent move, banned several Chinese apps citing security concerns. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology had reported that these mobile apps, available on Android and iOS platforms, were getting the users' data and sending it illegally to servers outside the country.
Following the ban on PUBG, Bollywood star Akshay Kumar launched the similar version of the game in India, titled FAU-G, and the news has created quite an excitement among the fans here. FAU-G will soon be available on mobile devices, and announcements regarding the game will follow shortly.
