Commuting from Western Expressway to Akurli Metro Station on Dahisar-Gundavali Metro 7 is a problem for commuters these days. But now their journey to Akurli station will soon be easy and safe. Because the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has decided to construct a pedestrian bridge to connect the South-North section of the Western Expressway. The cost of this bridge is expected to be INR 40 crores and tenders have recently been released by MMRDA for the construction of this bridge.
Metro 7 of MMRDA's metro project is a 16.5 km stretch and includes 13 metro stations. The route was partially commissioned in April 2022 and fully commissioned in January 2023. A large number of passengers are travelling on this route today. In such a case, it is becoming very difficult to travel to and from the station on the Western Expressway in this route.
As there is no bridge or pedestrian bridge connecting the western expressway, passengers have to take a long detour to come and go in the south-north section. Keeping this in mind, MMRDA has decided to connect the stations on the Western Expressway with a pedestrian bridge. Accordingly, 14 pedestrian bridges will be constructed on this route. These bridges are being constructed in phases at a cost of INR 210 crores. Accordingly, the MMRDA has released a tender for the construction of the pedestrian bridge on the Western Expressway connecting the Akurli Metro station on Friday.
As per the tender, the South-North section of the Western Expressway will be connected to the Akurli Metro Station by a pedestrian bridge. So that it will facilitate the movement of passengers from the South-North section of the Western Expressway. The cost of this pedestrian bridge is expected to be 40 crore 59 lakh 43 thousand 703 crore rupees. Construction of this bridge is expected to take 18 months. Metro passengers will get a big relief if this bridge is opened for traffic.
