The popular 'Restaurant on Wheels' located outside Platform 18 of Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) station will shut down from October 2023. It is pertinent to note that this was first initiative of 'Restaurant on Wheels' taken by the Central Railway (CR).
CR's Mumbai division has taken this decision in the wake of proposed redevelopment project of CSMT.
According to a railway official, the contract of Bogie Wogie expires in October and they have decided not to renew it. They are likely to float a fresh tender to set up a similar facility in a nearby area.
Although the exact location has not been decided, Central Railway is considering starting new 'restaurant on wheels' at Dadar or Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT), sources said.
Since its inception in October 2021, Bogie-Wogie has become an attraction for people of all ages. Its unique concept attracts about 6,500 to 7,000 travelers every month, including a large number of youth and students.
The restaurants on the wheel are popular for their varied menus. Which includes both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, special North Indian, South Indian and regional dishes.
Its affordable prices, taste and quality of food have made it a favorite among travelers and tourists.
