Now, Mumbaikars will not have to wait long to travel in Mumbai's first ever underground metro. The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) has completed the integrated test run on the first phase of the Mumbai Metro 3 corridor. The Research Design and Standards Organization (RDSO) testing is set to begin soon.
According to a senior MMRC official, after completing the integrated test, an application has been sent to the Research Design and Standards Organization (RDSO) to test the metro. The initial phase of RDSO testing is likely to begin in the first week of June.
During the test, the speed, mechanism, safety and rolling stock will be metro are tested. After receiving the certificate from RDSO, the metro administration will submit application for final CRS test. All necessary procedures are expected to be completed by July.
Trial run started last year
A trial run of the Metro between Aarey Colony and BKC under the first phase of the Metro 3 corridor has been underway since the end of last year. At this time, the work of running the metro at maximum speed has been completed by inspecting all the equipment. Along with this, testing of signaling system, telecommunication, platform screen door and track has also been completed.
Car shed is also ready
MMRC has also almost completed the construction of metro car shed at Aarey Colony. After the completion of the car shed, the issue of maintenance of the rail coaches has now been solved by the metro administration. Metro service will commence with 9 trains in the first phase.
According to MSRC, an additional 11 metro trains have arrived in Mumbai to start metro services in the second phase. The trial work of additional 11 trains has also been started.
