The demand for the introduction of NMMT bus service as a public transport system for passengers in the three industrial and growing urban areas of Uran, Panvel and Khopoli near Navi Mumbai in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region area is starting to gain momentum.
Both Uran and Panvel talukas, which are being developed through CIDCO, are basically a part of the expansion and development of Navi Mumbai. Some of the buses of NMMT bus service are running on some routes in the Panvel section. But currently, large civil projects have started standing in the middle of the national highway between Mumbai Goa and Mumbai Pune in Panvel and in Palaspe, Nandgaon section adjacent to Atal Setu connecting Mumbai. There is no public transport system to reach these thousands of houses.
Many housing projects are coming up in this section in the future. So the urban settlement here needs a communication facility. On the other hand, in the middle of Uran Panvel taluka, Pushpak Nagar is currently being constructed on 22.5 percent of the land given to the affected people of Navi Mumbai Airport.
If this NMMT bus service is started in this newly emerging settlement, the number of passengers may increase. If the service is started on this route from Panvel-Karanjade to Pushpak Nagar, the passengers of Navi Mumbai Airport area will be able to benefit from this.
Preference for NMMT bus on Atal Setu
NMMT has started bus service to Mumbai via Nerul Atal Setu. This has benefited commuters from Navi Mumbai and Ulve node who are doing business in Mumbai. Preference is being given to travel by this bus. Atal Setu has reduced the distance between Uran and Mumbai. Therefore, there has been a demand for starting NMMT bus service from Uran to Mantralaya via Atal Setu for the passengers of Uran since a year.
Demand to start Uran Panvel route
Uran Panvel route is the busiest route of ST transport. The number of buses that run every fifteen minutes on ST on this route has reduced. Due to this, thousands of passengers traveling on this route are facing inconvenience. Passengers have to wait for hours in both Panvel and Uran stations. Therefore, there has been a demand for NMMT to start bus services on this route for many years.
