Soon, commuters will be able to travel on the air-conditioned (AC) local train on Saturdays as well, as the Western Railway (WR) is planning to reduce its two-day maintenance period to one day, i.e. Sunday.
Passengers for AC locals are gradually increasing as initially when the AC local was launched in January, 1.77 lakh commuters used to travel which increased to 2 lakh in February and 3.13 lakh in March.

Earlier, 667 passengers used to travel on a daily basis which escalated to 798. the AC local has the seating capacity of 1028 seats and in total 5964 passengers can travel in an AC Local.

The temperature in the AC local has been kept at 23 degree Celsius. However, keeping in mind the rising temperature in the summer, the railway administration is considering to bring down the train's temperature to 21 degree Celsius.
