Two persons have been injured and three vehicles were crushed after a big hoarding fell on a busy road in Kalyan this morning, August 2.
The incident took place at 10.18 am on Shahjanand Chowk area in Kalyan (West), Thane district as the city was reeling under heavy rains.
A team was immediately sent to the spot as the incident was reported. The rescue operations underway. The staff of Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal and fire brigade teams rushed on the spot to removed the collapsed hoarding.

At least five to six persons were standing on road below hoarding while one auto carrying passengers were passing from road when suddenly hoardings collapsed on them. Most of them managed to escape on time.
The CCTV footage shows that when hoarding collapsed people standing below started fleeing from spot while two persons including one from auto and one passing from road have suffered minor scratches. A lightning strike just before the sudden collapse of the hoarding. The structure fell on the shed of a shop where people were taking shelter from the rain.

Kalyan Tehsildar Sachin Shejal has ruled out the possibility of anyone being trapped under it.
The exact size of the hoarding was not immediately known.
It is pertinent to note that this comes almost three months after a hoarding collapse in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar claimed 17 lives, leading to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) framing comprehensive guidelines for the certification and inspection of hoardings.
