Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) is to develop a dedicated terminal exclusively for film stars, billionaire industrialists and high-ranking politicians.

The construction of this VVIP terminal is planned to start in the financial year 2026 and is aimed to be completed by 2030.

The terminal will not only cater to central and state government officials like governors, chief ministers and defence personnel but will also serve as a general aviation terminal for film stars and other VIPs.

Currently, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai lacks a VVIP terminal. The airport will be managed by NMIA Adani Airport Holdings Limited, a joint venture between the Maharashtra City and Industrial Development Corporation. The terminal is expected to start operations after May 15.

The launch of the VVIP terminal at Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) will be important in attracting high-income travelers and providing them with a unique travel experience.

On February 26, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) assessed that the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) is 90% complete.

The NMIA will decongest the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA). The first phase includes a terminal with a capacity of 20 million passengers per year. It is also expected that NMIA will be used by 1 to 12 million passengers.

This will include 9 million domestic passengers and 3 million international passengers. The second phase, which is expected to be operational by the end of 2028, will have a capacity of 30 million.

In addition, a VIP terminal and a permanent air traffic control tower will be built in the third phase.
