Shame: Blame game begins as Western Railway accuses BMC for Charni Road footover bridge collapse

Elphinstone Road station stampede raised a lot of concern about how the government functions in regards taking care of their people. While we pay a lot of tax, the least we can expect from the system is to be safe, secure and have a proper commute with casualties, but sadly that seems to be too much to ask from the government.

Mumbai Live recently reported about the Charni Road mishap, where a part of the foot-over bridge collapsed injuring 2 people. Minutes after the incident, the western railways has shamelessly tweeted blaming the BMC for the same.

Such a comment is not acceptable, especially at this hour when the government and the officials are expected to work hand in hand to improve the situation. As common men, we aren’t expected to know who is to be blamed. But such an act from Western Railways only brings their work and dignity to shame.

Few months back, Elphinstone Road stampede has killed and injured more than 20 people and commuters were taken aback with the incident, bringing a part of the city to the halt. Days after the incident, a part of the ceiling slab fell on a woman and now this incident has come to the forefront.

The question now being raised is about how much will the commuters and the citizens have to suffer? Where is the tax money being used? And if it is being used in the right way (assuming, as per their usual typical statements), why can’t we, the citizens, see a change?
