The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Thursday, October 21, has declared that the civic body is taking efforts to vaccinate 100 per cent of the adult population with first dose by end of this month, i.e before Diwali.
The municipality has instructed the Divisional Assistant Commissioners to conduct vaccination camps in the slums of the divisions and in the premises of some buildings along with door-to-door vaccination.
On the other hand, as colleges have resume physical classes, the state environment and tourism minister Aaditya Thackeray announced ‘Mission Yuva Swasth’ will be launched from October 25 to November 2 to boost vaccination amongst college students. Thackeray made this announcement after he held a meeting with state health minister Rajesh Tope, minister of higher education Uday Samant and other officials regarding the implementation of this special drive.

Moreover, the BMC has also decided to speed up vaccinations as the state government announced to relax the restrictions on timings of shops, restaurants and reopening of malls & theaters.
The municipality has also provided mobile vans for vaccination in various parts of the city.
According to latest reports revealed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), at least 97 per cent of the eligible citizens or 86,29,807 people in Mumbai have received one dose of the vaccine.
Meanwhile, the number of fully vaccinated citizens in the city stands at 48,85,304, which is over 55 per cent of the eligible adult population, after Monday’s vaccination. With this, experts have stated that over 65% of the people are likely to get fully vaccinated by October end.

Out of the total number of fully vaccinated citizens in the city, 14.21 lakhs are from the 45-59 age group while 22.37 lakhs are in the 18-44 age group.
