Mumbai- It seems Behrampada collapse has awakened the sleeping BMC as now from Saturday onwards, civic officials will start the demolition of the slums. This demolition drive will start from Behrampada and will go across the Mumbai.
Malad, Dharavi, Bandra, Kandivali, Santacruz, Kurla, Govandi, Sewri, Mankhurd, Dahisar, Marol are the areas having a large number of slums. These slums have more than approximately 70 lakh residents. According to the BMC regulations, slums can raise their height till 14 feet but in last years, these slums have increased their height from 14 feet to 20 feet and then it went up to 30 feet height. It is said that these slums were not demolished due to the political interference.
