While the number of fresh coronavirus cases and fatalities dipped, Mumbai’s test positivity rate (TPR) went above 1 per cent.
On Monday, September 13, saw a significant rise in the TPR at approximately 1.33 per cent. However, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials said that is expected to go up further in the coming days as the city is likely to witness a surge in cases after the Ganesh festival.
Moreover, it has come to light that Monday was the second consecutive day when the city’s positivity rate went above 1 per cent. Earlier, the positivity rate had gone above 1 per cent on three days last week.
According to the officials, COVID-19 testing had gone down due to the Ganpati festival. Though, the civic body aims to start testing nearly 60,000 daily in the coming days after the festivity.
The city reported 345 cases and six deaths, taking the tally to 735,400 and toll to 16,028 on the same day.
