Ahead of the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra, scheduled for May 20, the administration has announced have dry days in Mumbai and neighbouring areas. 

Therefore, bars and wine shops will remain closed for three days starting from 5 pm on May 18 and till 5 pm on May 20.

This decision is taken to maintain law and order along with prevention of any untoward incident on polling day.

Later, there will be another dry day in Mumbai on June 4 on the day of vote counting until results are announced.

The election process for a total of 543 Lok Sabha seats is being conducted in seven phases. So far, the four-phase election process has been conducted across the country. In the fifth phase, voting will be held in Mumbai, suburbs and MMR.

It includes six constituencies namely North Mumbai Constituency, North-West Mumbai Constituency, North-East Mumbai Constituency, North-Central Mumbai Constituency, South Central Mumbai Constituency and South Mumbai Constituency. Mumbai, Palghar, Kalyan and Thane are among key constituencies.
