On Monday, January 3, a fire broke out in a godown in Mumbai's Ghatkopar area, reported news agency ANI. To douse the fire, 8 fire engines and water tankers rushed to the location.

The fire broke out in a furniture scrap shop on Monday morning, but no reports of any casualties were made, stated civic officials, mentioned news agency PTI. Based on the accounts, the fire erupted at nearly 10.30 am in the shop that is situated at D'Silva Compound in Asalfa locality's Sunder Baug.
According to the report, police, as well as the ward staff, reached the location after being apprised of the situation. Apart from them, even ambulances rushed to the area. The official elaborated on how the cause of the fire still needs to be determined.

It has been reported that the godown is engulfed by slum units, with Asalfa being a hilly area, there are also many slums in the said vicinity. An official further remarked on how the fire could further flare because the area is heavily populated. Adding that once the locals found out about the fire, they rushed out and no immediate reports of injuries or severe damage were made.
