A massive fire broke out on the 10th floor of 16-storey Sargam society in Chembur where five people lost their lives while two people were injured.
The unfortunate incident took place on Thursday evening. It is believed that the fire broke out around 8:00 pm and it started as a level two fire but intensified into a level three blaze following a cylinder blast. The fire is reported to have started due to a short-circuit.

A few days ago, four people died in a level-II fire incident reported in Kandivali on Sunday evening around 3:30 PM. The fire broke out at a clothing factory and it took hours for the firefighters to douse the fire.
Similarly, on December 24, a massive fire broke out at ESIC Kamgar Hospital in Marol, Andheri, where eight people lost their lives while 142 were injured.
