In Bhiwandi's New Azad Nagar, 40 people, including a four-year-old girl, were attacked by a stray dog. The girl, Laiba Shaikh, died in Sion Hospital on Monday after more than a month and a half. Laiba lived with her parents in Shantinagar area.
MLA Raees Shaikh said that her death was not an accident but a murder and demanded that an FIR be lodged against the responsible people. Laiba's grandfather said she was rushed to IGM Hospital after the dog bit her face. She was admitted to Civil Hospital Thane for further treatment.
She was discharged after five days of surgery but was later readmitted to the hospital as her condition worsened. She was then rushed to Sion Hospital, where she passed away.
