The process of granting permission to Ganesha Mandals celebrating Ganeshotsav to set up pavilions will start from August 6. Public Ganeshotsav mandals who have followed the government rules and laws for the last ten years and have no complaints will be given permission once through the department office for five consecutive years. However, the permit will need to be renewed every year.

Ganeshotsav is now almost a month away and preparations for Ganeshotsav mandals have started. Ganeshotsav begins from September 7 and the arrival of big Ganesha idols starts from the month of August. Therefore, the system of the municipality is also ready for the permission of the pavilions and according to the decision of the state government, permission will be given to the Ganeshotsav mandals who are doing excellent work for five consecutive years from this year.

These boards have to renew this permission every year. This renewal will require obtaining permission from the traffic and local police. Apart from this, the mandals who have obtained permission on private land will be required to obtain a no-objection certificate from the land owner or society as well as permission from the traffic police and local police within the prescribed period before the festival.

Under the One Window Scheme, online permission will be given to public Ganesha Mandals for setting up of mandaps through a computerised system from August 6. The applications received will be scrutinised by the divisional office after which no objection certificate from the local police station traffic police department will be obtained online and permission will be given for the pavilion as per the rules. Newly this year, the permission to set up pavilions given to congregations celebrating public festivals will be limited to this year only.

According to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's order, the public Ganeshotsav mandals in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation area will be charged only INR 100 for the celebration of the year 2024. Computerised single window application facility will be made available on the Municipal Corporation's website https://portal.mcgm.gov.in from 10 am on August 6.
