The electricity consumption is increasing along with electricity bills. But now the citizens can heave a sigh of relief, as the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited or Mahavitran has decided to reduce the electricity tariff.


The MSEDCL had submitted a proposal to reduce electricity tariffs to the Maharashtra State Electricity Regulatory Commission (MSERC). After hearing the proposal submitted by the Mahavitran, MSERC has now issued orders to fix the electricity tariffs.


The MSERC has decided to reduce electricity tariffs for the year 2025-26. This decision has resulted in a 10 percent reduction in electricity tariffs. The biggest benefit of this decision will be for the general household consumers. The new electricity tariffs will be implemented from April 1.

This year, citizens have been shocked by the scorching heat. The increasing heat has led to a large amount of electricity consumption and an increase in electricity demand. While electricity bills are getting higher due to increased electricity consumption, now the decision to reduce electricity prices has brought great relief to domestic consumers.


Electricity companies fix electricity rates every 5 years. It is called a multi-year tariff. The new electricity rates will be implemented in the month of April. This electricity rate reduction will benefit crores of consumers in the state. Consumers consuming 101-300 units of electricity will benefit greatly. Currently, consumers in this group have to pay INR 11.06 per unit, but after the rate cut, these citizens will save money.
