The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) organized a workshop to prepare a roadmap for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) Growth Hub project.
The workshop, led by MHADA Vice Chairman and CEO Sanjeev Jaiswal, presented the NITI Aayog’s vision for economic transformation. The original goal of the MMR Growth Hub project is to increase the GDP figure of $ 140 billion in 2023 to $ 300 billion by 2030.
IAS officer Milind Borikar, along with the Chief Executive Officer of the Mumbai Building Repair and Reconstruction Board, Milind Shambharkar, has implemented some strategies to achieve this goal.
Sanjeev Jaiswal said that the project will focus on seven key pillars. These include affordable housing, global service centers, tourism and entertainment, advanced infrastructure, etc.
This includes over three million affordable houses by 2030, 2.2 million slum rehabilitation (SRA) and 800,000 affordable housing schemes led by MHADA and CIDCO.
Milind Shambharkar has paid special attention to emphasizing the need for regulatory reforms to speed up stalled projects.
