To promote tourism in Mumbai, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is going to build a high tower called 'Mumbai Eye' on the backdrop of 'London Eye' with a diameter of approximately 120 to 150 meters. Through this, tourists will be able to see the panoramic view of Mumbai. A consultant will be appointed for site determination and environmental impact assessment along with technical feasibility study of the project and a tender process will be conducted soon.
The 135 meter high 'London Eye' (Cradle) has been erected on the banks of the River Thames in London. More than 35 lakh tourists visit this place every year which is a tourist attraction from all over the world. The MMRDA has decided to set up 'Mumbai Eye' on the same lines a few years back. Now the first step has been taken to launch this project. A proposal was placed before the authority to select a consultant to carry out site search, technical feasibility, as well as transport study and environmental impact assessment for the project.

Metropolitan Commissioner S V R Srinivas informed that the proposal was approved in the meeting of the authority on Friday. A site will be searched for the appointment of a consultant by inviting tenders soon. It will also be checked whether the project is feasible in all respects. After that, steps will be taken in terms of actual project construction, he also said.
Approximate expenditure of INR 2000 cr
For 'Mumbai Eye' it is necessary to get a place near the sea or the sea. But the exact location has not been decided yet. Srinivas also said that the consultant will search for the location and after that it will be finalised. The project is expected to cost approximately INR 2,000 crore. This project will be implemented on a public-private partnership basis.
Global tendering for work
The 'Mumbai Eye' project will be implemented in two phases. In the first phase, the feasibility of the project will be checked in all aspects by searching the place. In the second phase, the actual construction of the project will be done. For this, tenders will be invited at the global level.
