The Shiv Sena faction led by Eknath Shinde held its first national executive meeting on Tuesday. It was their first national executive meeting after the Election Commission allotted them the party name and the bow and arrow symbol. The proposals proposed in the meeting also included the demand for giving Bharat Ratna to Hindutva ideology Vinayak Damodar Savarkar.


Churchgate station to be renamed
The meeting of the National Executive was presided over by the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde. Another proposal discussed in the meeting was to rename Churchgate railway station after former Union Finance Minister Chintamanrao Deshmukh.


Who is Chintaman Dwarkanath Deshmukh?
In 1943, the Reserve Bank of India got its first Indian governor in Chintaman Dwarkanath Deshmukh, a civil servant who did many great things for the country. He also became the Finance Minister of India during 1950-56 after doing many great works for the country in the early years of India's independence. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has passed a resolution to rename the iconic Churchgate station to Chintamanrao Deshmukh station.



Eknath Shinde named as Shiv Sena Chief
Minister Uday Samant said that a three-member Disciplinary Committee consisting of Chairman Dada Bhuse, Shurdaje Desai, Sanjay More will be formed. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has been retained as the main leader in this meeting. Eknath Shinde will have all the powers of the party. In this meeting it was decided to give the utmost importance and elite status to Marathi language. A proposal to provide 80 percent employment to Bhoomiputra (son of soil) was also passed.
