Due to heavy rains across Maharashtra, Raigad Fort has been closed for tourists and Shiva devotees from today, July 8. Moroever, Chitta Darwaza and Nane Darwaza roads leading to Raigad Fort have been closed with barricading. Accordingly, police arrangements have been made at the foothills of Raigad fort to avoid mishaps and prevent tourists from reaching the fort.

Also, a flock of tourists visited Raigad Fort yesterday being a Sunday. Around 500 tourists were stranded on the fort on Sunday evening, July 7. The Raigad police with the help of members of a NGO started the rescue operation. They were taken down the fort by ropeway. However, the ropeway administration has closed the ropeway to reach up the fort.

In a video that went viral on the internet shows that the tourists can be seen climbing down holding each other and taking support of the fort walls.
