For the renovation of Ram Ganesh Gadkari Rangayatan Theatre of Thane Municipal Corporation, which is considered to be the identity of Thane city and is the first choice of theatre workers and theatre lovers, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has approved a fund of INR 8 crore.
In Gadkari Rangayatan, the crew as well as the audience felt some discomfort and the said complaints and suggestions were made to Chief Minister. Accordingly, Thane Municipal Commissioner (TMC) Abhijit Bangar did the actual inspection. A structural audit of Rangayatan's building was also done. In it, it was clear that the original structure was in good condition and there was a need for radical changes in the internal structure and facilities.
Accordingly, the proposal for renewal of Gadkari Rangayatan was proposed by the TMC to the State Government. It has been approved and a fund of eight crore rupees has been approved, Commissioner Bangar said. Built in 1978, Rangayatan was extensively renovated in 2005. After that it is being renewed now after 18 years. The seating capacity of Rangayatan is 1080.

While reforming Gadkari Rangayatan, the traditionality of Rangayatan will be preserved. Also, state-of-the-art facilities will be made available with time, Bangar said.
While renovating the Gadkari Rangayatan, the internal facilities will be designed according to the expectations of the artists and the audience. Mainly, strengthening of the main structure, renovation of rehearsal hall, replacement of the entire seating arrangement in the main auditorium, necessary improvements in the green room for the theatre actors. Commissioner said that the works include upgradation of stage-flooring, improvement of air conditioning system, complete upgradation of toilets etc.

Renovation works will be carried out keeping in mind the booking of painting dates. So that no one is inconvenienced. Also, attention will be paid to complete the work in the shortest period of time, Bangar explained.
