The Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has announced that the water supply will be disrupted in the areas under its jurisdiction from 10 am to 10 pm on Thursday, February 27, for maintenance, repair and replacement of valves as well as water channels.

During this period, the water supply of Kalyan and Dombivali's East and West areas will remain completely shut, informed the Executive Engineer of the Water Supply Department.

In order to ensure smooth water supply in the Kalyan-Dombivali Municipal Corporation limits, essential maintenance and repair work will be done at the Udchan Kendra at Mohili on the banks of the Ulhas river.

This development came after the municipality has received many complaints about this water leakage. During this bandh, these valve repair works will also be done on priority.

Also, the valves on many main water channels in the Kalyan-Dombivali division have been damaged. Leading to water leaks from these valves. As this water comes on the road, it causes inconvenience to pedestrians and vehicle drivers.

There are some technical faults in the main water pipes supplying water to Kalyan and Dombivli cities. In some places, the amount of air is high in the water pipes. Due to this, some areas are not being supplied with sufficient pressure.

This issue has been going on in Ganesh nagar area of Dombivli West for several months. There are complaints from citizens that water is being supplied with low pressure in some areas. The underground water pipes in that area will be inspected during this time, said Executive Engineer Shailesh Malekar.

These maintenance and repair works will be carried out under the control of Ashok Ghode, Executive Engineer of Kalyan Department, Water Supply Department, and Shailesh Malekar, Executive Engineer of Dombivli Department. During this time, water purification centers at Barave, Mohili, and Netivali will also remain closed.

Executive Engineer Ghode said that the water supply works have been undertaken to ensure that water is supplied to every part of the city with sufficient pressure during this period.

There is a possibility of low water pressure the next day. Water supply officials have appealed to citizens to store enough water for one day in their homes.
