The iconic Frere Road overbridge is undergoing restructuring commissioned by the Western Railway (WR). Just as girders from the road overbridge were removed, authorities from WR said that they are looking to expedite the construction of the new road overbridge. The authorities have mentioned that they plan to finish work by June, a month prior to the original July 16 deadline.
Further, WR has reportedly informed BMC to finish working on the connector roads to the new overbridge so that both projects are finished simultaneously, ultimately reducing the inconvenience to the citizens. Authorities added that this is particularly due to the troubles faced by motorists travelling through the area.
