Rain has been lashing Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Kalyan, Thane, Dombivli areas. This has also affected Central Railway local services and Trans Harbour local services. Traffic on Central and Harbor lines got delayed. Owing to this, the stations of Kalyan, Dombivli, Thane, Ghatkopar, Dadar got overcrowded. Same situation is at Harbour railway stations and because of which, a woman lost both of her legs.
The incident took place around 9:30 am when a woman who was waiting to board a train at CBD Belapur, fell down on the track and was run over by the train. She survived but lost both of her legs. The platform was crowded when people were awaiting the train. It was in this crowd that the woman's foot slipped and the first coach of the train ran over her body. Other passengers and police officials asked the motorman to reverse the train to save the woman’s life.

What did Chief Minister Eknath Shinde appeal?
Life has been disrupted in Mumbai due to heavy rains everywhere. There has been a traffic jam on the road and the traffic on the railway line has also been affected. The work of removing water from the tracks is going on by the railway administration and efforts are on to restore traffic to normal soon. The Chief Minister has directed all emergency agencies to be on high alert. Citizens should go out only if necessary. Also, the Chief Minister has appealed to the BMC, Police Administration and Emergency Services to cooperate.
