Amidst the torrential rainfall last year in Mumbai, a portion of a wall in the Malabar Hill area had collapsed. Mumbai’s civic body, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has now reportedly completed the work in record time.

In the past, during the monsoons on August 5, incessant rainfall in Mumbai led to a landslide at Malabar Hill in which the retaining wall of BG Kher Road collapsed, badly damaging the road due to which the BMC formed a technical advisory committee, which includes professors from IIT, NMIMS, BMC officials and members from structural consultancy companies to study the condition of soil and road before reconstruction of the patch.

Meanwhile, the construction of the eroded wall has been completed in just six months due to which traffic on both sides of the road has resumed. Due to the closure of roads, vehicles coming from South Mumbai towards Mahalakshmi had to pass under the Camps Corner flyover. Moreover, it was advised to use the Taddev-Nana Chowk-Opera House via Haji Ali by the traffic police after that.

On the other hand, the BMC had earlier informed that the Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link Road Flyover could finally open for the general public by mid-August following a prolonged delay. This flyover will ease traffic between the Eastern Express Highway and Navi Mumbai, though it has been delayed for nearly three years. Moreover, officials added that around 97 per cent of the works have concluded, allowing them to open it for the public in the next few months.
