Youngsters Prithvi Shaw and Hanuma Vihari have been named in the 15-man squad. However, Murali Vijay and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar have been ruled out of the remaining matches and the youngsters have been named as replacements. Although the youngsters may not get to be the part of the playing XI, there’s no going back for them from here as their performance will now be a decisive factor for their future.
Mumbai cricketer Shaw has played 14 first-class matches and scored seven centuries till now including the hundred on his Ranji debut. Alongside, the 18-year-old also won the U-19 World Cup for India. Looking at his consistency, Shaw got called for India A team where he scored two centuries consisting of the innings of 188 runs against West Indies A and a century against South Africa A.
Whereas Andhra captain Hanuma Vihari was selected on his outstanding performance in the Ranji Trophy where he scored 5142 runs in 63 first-class matches consisting of 15 centuries. Vihari is the second Andhra cricketer after selector MSK Prasad himself to play Test for India.
