A shocking incident has come to light in Thane, Maharashtra. The parents of a nine-year-old boy from Shahpur have alleged that the doctor of the local civic hospital had circumcised the boy.
He had gone for surgery on the leg's injury. In the OT, the doctor operated on his genitals instead of his legs. However, after realising his mistake, surgery was also done on his leg. The boy's family has lodged a complaint with the local Shahapur police. The police said that the investigation into the matter is ongoing.
Following the complaint of the child's parents, the civil surgeon of the Thane Civil Hospital has also started an investigation. This family lives in Saravali village of Shahapur. Father is daily labourer, mother works at home. His son is studying.
According to the family, the boy injured his leg last month while playing with friends. He took the boy to the hospital for an infection near his leg. The doctor asked to operate on the boy's leg. The family admitted the child to the hospital on June 15.
The family said that the surgery on the child's leg was done by a doctor named Swapneel. The boy's mother said, 'When the doctor brought my son out of the operation theatre, my son told me that the doctor had operated on his private part instead of his leg. When I asked the doctor about it, he rushed the boy to the operation theater and operated on his leg.' When the family asked the doctor, he said that the child would recover.
The family refused to take the child home until the hospital gave them a written confirmation that nothing would happen to their child. Meanwhile, after the family's complaint, the workers of the city have taken up the issue and demanded action against the doctor responsible for the malpractice in the operation.
Here's what doctor say
Gajendra Pawar, Health Officer of Health Hospital of Shahapur, while explaining this, said that apart from the leg injury, the boy was also suffering from phimosis, so operated on his penis. The family claimed that there was no such thing. The patient's parents said they realised the doctor was confused during the surgery. Three patients of the same age were operated on the day. A civil surgeon team will investigate the matter after the family complained.
