An IndiGo flight from Chennai to Mumbai received a bomb threat. The plane landed safely in Mumbai around 10:30 pm. A threatening mail was received at the headquarters of the airline.
IndiGo has issued a statement in this regard. It said that all the passengers have been safely disembarked from the plane. IndiGo said, 'IndiGo Flight 6E 5149 from Chennai to Mumbai received a bomb threat. Upon landing in Mumbai, the crew followed protocol and the aircraft was taken to an isolation room. All passengers have safely disembarked from the aircraft. We are working with security agencies and once all security checks are completed, the aircraft will be put back in the terminal area.
As soon as the mail was received, the airlines alerted the police. The security team reached the airport. CISF also took charge. When police searched the building, they said they found nothing suspicious.
Hospitals in Mumbai also received threats
Earlier on Tuesday, more than 50 hospitals in Mumbai received bomb threat mails. According to the Mumbai Police, the sender claimed that the bombs were placed under the hospital bed and in the bathroom. The hospitals that received the threat mail include Mumbai's Jaslok Hospital, Raheja Hospital, Seven Hill Hospital, Kohinoor Hospital, KEM Hospital, JJ Hospital and St. George Hospital.
Police said a VPN network was used to send the mail, which was sent from a website called Bible.com. On receiving the information, the police team and the bomb squad searched the hospitals, but nothing suspicious was found. Police said that a case has been registered in this matter and the investigation is on.
