Two directors and three senior executives of a Dadar-based private company were booked on Monday for alleged involvement in an investment fraud. At least seven investors claim to have lost INR 13.48 crore in the Ponzi scheme, according to police.
The case was filed at Shivaji Park police station against top executives of Platinum Hern Pvt Ltd, the company operating Torres store. The accused include directors Sarvesh Surve and Victoria Kowlenko, CEO Taufiq Riya (alias John Carter), general manager Tanya Kastova, and store in-charge Valentina Kumar.
The complaint was lodged by a 31-year-old vegetable vendor, Pradipkumar Vaishya, who had invested in the scheme. Police have recorded statements from at least seven individuals who collectively lost ₹13.48 crore in a Ponzi scheme that promised a 25% monthly return on investments. Police suspect the accused defrauded numerous investors across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Mira Bhayander.

Between June and December 2024, they launched a scheme promising a 6% weekly return for investors purchasing moissanite stones. Attracted by the lucrative offer, many individuals invested money, according to police. Initially, investors received regular returns as promised, but after December 30, 2024, the firm began ignoring their calls, police reported.
When several investors gathered outside the Torres store on JK Sawant Road in Dadar (West) demanding their money, police intervened to calm the crowd.
A case was registered against the company’s top five executives under sections 318(4), 316(5), and 61 of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), along with sections 3 and 4 of the Maharashtra Protection of Interest of Depositors (MPID) Act.
