It is not every day that filmmakers Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee and Anurag Kashyap come together and they are doing the same for a Netflix original that it titled "Ghost Stories". The release date of the same was announced today as January 1, 2020.

The filmmakers shared a sneak peek of their much-anticipated project, which is being dubbed as an edge-of-the-seat psychological drama along with announcing the release date.

The video opens with Anurag Kashyap saying "last year we did 'Lust Stories' and we had so much fun". This is followed by Karan Johar adding, You all saw that and enjoyed, and we decided to go one step further. Something that has changed things for all of us." We then see Zoya Aktar on-screen as she says, "We ventured into a space that none of had been in before. I really liked making films". Dibakar explained the premise of the project by saying "it is about things that are not really human".

They went on to give hints about the plot. Karan Johar shares that post watching this one will never be able to look at the big fat Indian weddings the way ever again. "Innocent kindergarten rhymes are sending me running," Zoya exclaimed, while Anurag said: "Bird songs don't sound sweet anymore."

"Strange fascination and craving for certain kind of food," Dibakar added.

The film stars Avinash Tewari, Gulshan Devaiah, Janhvi Kapoor, Kusha Kapila, Mrunal Thakur, Sobhita Dhulipala, Surekha Sikri, Sukant Goel, and Vijay Verma in pivotal roles.  The makers are promoting this show as the digital debut of Janhvi Kapoor. Just like "Lust Stories", "Ghost Stories" is an Indian anthology film consisting of four short films. It is the third collaboration, after "Love Per Square Foot" and "Lust Stories" for Netfix and RSVP.

Netflix India in the last year upped its content game in India and we have seen some high ticket releases that include season 2 of Sacred Games, Bard of Blood, Drive that was produced by Dharma Productions. However, none of these managed to win us over.Drive among these was the biggest disappointment. We are hoping that with this Netflix India offers to give a great show much like Love per square-feet.
