After receiving an overwhelming response for the Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL) admissions, Mumbai University announced on Sunday that it will extend the dates till September 20 for all the courses. Therefore, the students who have been unable to secure admissions, have been invited to reach out to IDOL in this extended time.
According to the reports, so far, 65,000 students have successfully completed the registration process online and with the date extension, the institute is expecting more students, especially in the first years to pour in.
The IDOL spokesperson stated that many students were unable to secure admissions due to reasons like heavy rainfall and thus, IDOL extended the admission dates. He also added that the process is being conducted by complying to the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines.

Meanwhile, the highest admissions have been reported for Master of Commerce (M.Com), with 62,000 students confirming admissions for the academic year 2019-29. On the other hand, close to 18,263 students registered for the Arts-based courses i.e, Bachelors in Arts (BA) and Masters in Arts (MA).
While more than 41,000 students have expressed interest in Commerce and Management courses, around 1,500 students are willing to seek admission in Science and Technology courses that includes Bachelors in Science (BSc)- IT, Masters in Science (MSc)- Mathematics.
Since Mumbai University had received 67,000 applications last year, they are expecting that the number of students will easily exceed the 65,000-mark this year. Earlier, the admission procedure had been closed on August 31, but with a heavy number of students showing interest in securing admission, the university has extended the dates till September 20.
